Rihanna talks about new music (AP interview at her SavageX Show Vol. 4 red carpet on October 16, 2022)

Rihanna’s press interviews from the black carpet event of her SavageX Show Vol. 4 were just released. She talks about her baby, motherhood, the Super Bowl Halftime Show and obviously about the lingerie event itself, but also mentions the fact that she’s working on new music. Speaking to AP, she denied a connection between the Super Bowl and new music:

Super Bowl is one thing, music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans? Because I knew the second that I announced this, I said, “omg, they’re gonna think my album is coming, I need to get to work.” But I do have new music coming out, but we’ll see. Unrelated, unrelated. With a special project.”

Rihanna on recording “Lift Me Up”

As these interviews were shot on Oct 16, Rihanna’s most likely referring to “Lift Me Up” which was released officially on Oct 28. She also told Vogue at the same event, that she only “recently” spent three days at a recording studio to get the song ready in time for its release: “And just recently I pushed through three days at the studio in a row – like, slept in the studio – to get a song done because it’s a project that’s really important to me coming out. I believed it and I wanted to be a part of it, so I got it done.”

Talking to ExtraTV, she even mentioned that she doesn’t even think about a tour yet. The way she talks about her baby in the same interviews, it is unclear whether she’s joking or not… Time will tell, but one thing is for sure: Rihanna will only leave her child behind for the Super Bowl: “It was now or never. You get real comfortable being at home as a mum.”
