Rihanna arrived at the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” world premiere in Los Angeles. Two hours after the event started, Rihanna walked the purple carpet with A$AP Rocky wearing a FW22/23 look by Rick Owens.

She was spotted posing with Bob Chapek, CEO of Disney, as well as Simone Boseman, the wife of the late Chadwick Boseman. Chadwick played King T’Challa in the first movie, but died of cancer in August 2020. As revealed by a press release, Rihanna recorded the new movie’s title track “Lift Me Up” in tribute and legacy of Chadwick. The song is about to be released this Friday.

A little clip of Rihanna at the event surfaced online in which she talks to Chapek: “It’s big for me as well. I’m honored to be a part of this”.

Several cast members were asked about Rihanna on the carpet including Lupita Nyong’o, Michaela Coel, Dominique Thorne and Angela Bassett. They all seem to be surprised about Rihanna’s involvement in the project, with Coel saying: “I didn’t even know [she would be here]. I’m still processing, because she smiled at me and gave me a little wave.” Meanwhile both Lupita and Angela told Variety that they had no idea Rihanna would sing the title track: “I haven’t even heard that! I can’t wait”, as Lupita said.
