Rihanna's "Lift Me Up" music video

Only 15 hours after the song’s premiere, Rihanna released the music video to her new single “Lift Me Up”. The title track of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” was written by Tems, Rihanna, Lucas Göransson and Ryan Coogler and is in tribute of the late Chadwick Boseman. The corresponding music video was directed by Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Minimalistic video for Rihanna’s emotional song

The minimalistic video includes footage from the movie and scenes of Rihanna shot at a beach during sunset. No gimmicks, no visual effects – just Rihanna letting all her emotions out in front of a bonfire. According to the movie’s director, Ryan Coogler, Rihanna was “the latest to join this family” and wanted to record the song, because of Chadwick. “‘Lift Me Up’ is a song that she could only make right now. Who she is right now and what she’s going through right now as a woman“, Coogler also told The Hollywood Reporter.

The music video was produced by Whitney Jackson and edited by Andrew Hegele.
